The next Battlefield game is aiming to have the most realistic and exciting destruction effects in the industry
Despite EA's surprisingly quiet stance on Battlefield after the launch of Battlefield 2042 failed to meet the publisher's expectations as initially hoped, efforts to improve the game and bring it up to fan expectations are ongoing. Even with the ongoing work on Battlefield 2042, it seems like it's time to eagerly anticipate what the next game in the series will offer.
EA has been notably secretive about what the next Battlefield will entail, but thanks to a job listing at Ripple Effect, we at least know one goal of the game.
The vacancy for a VFX Director is generally standard and doesn't reveal too much about the next Battlefield, but it hints at what Ripple Effect and EA are aiming for with the new game. Right under the "values" section of the studio, it states that the team is looking for an artist to help create the "most realistic and exciting destruction effects in the industry."
This is not too surprising, considering destructibility is a key feature of the series and one of the things that fans appreciate compared to other first-person shooters. However, it at least confirms that the next Battlefield will pay as much attention to the physics of destruction as other games in the series.
We still don't know when to expect the release of the next Battlefield, but it's worth noting that the game by Ripple Effect has not been officially confirmed as the next mainline entry in the series. EA previously stated that Ripple Effect is working on a "completely new Battlefield experience that will complement and expand on the foundations of the series." So, it could be a spin-off rather than the next major release.
